ASUS Padfone 2
After a few weeks of using padfone 2, and a few camera updates later, still jellybean 4.1.1 waiting for 4.2
the nice thing about the camera is holding down a button and taking multiple pictures at short intervals.
Love having the tablet so at night I can update the google calendar easier.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ok I just received my xmas present I bought myself (for $AUD 948 with free shipping from ebay). The phone itself is very light, when I put it into the tablet, a tad on the heavy side when compared to my transformer prime tablet (tablet only without keyboard), the sim is a micro sim so the normal sim doesnt fit. Luckily TPG lets you choose the sim size.
The first thing the phone asks you when it starts up is to select language, I had to scroll up to select english.
one frustration with all android devices is that my work internet needs a user and password login so even though I did not have a sim, I tried to connect to the internet by using the wi-fi. However, in the set-up instructions, it just goes into a massive loop. So I docked the phone into the tablet and then clicked the home button and then clicked browser and then from there i could enter in my work's guest wifi user/pass combo and then from there i could start downloading and updating.
Synced the gmail account.
Ok most of these are the shortcomings I found so far, as some of you know, my reviews are usually pointing out the flaws so you can make a better informed decision, but if I bought it, then it is obviously worth buying ha ha,
I have been reading that Jellybean is available but when i click search for updates within the tablet, it says nothing is available and android is still 4.04 as opposed to 4.1.1
Pity it does not have a usb port or sd card slot so I will have to use bluetooth or use the usb cable to connect to my desktop to transfer all my "FULL VERSION" angry bird games ha ha I just cannot stand the ads.
Ok one thing is if you connect the usb to your pc, it does not work if you connect it to the docking station. you need to connect it to the phone only. Great news is you don't need to install any of the asus software to connect :)
Given I have 64gb, the first thing I did was copy my entire clubfanatix mp3 collection which was about 32gb so I will have something to listen to lol. However, android appears to be like those old 32bit windows where there is a file name length limitation so I had to shorten the directory path I was copying to.
In terms of appz, I went and installed the ad free versions of angry birds latest versions and some calculators and office type appz.
You can answer the phone on your tablet without removing the phone. Its pretty kewl
Thats all for now.

Taken 2 2012 DVDRIP XVID AC3 - [RiSES] is the only good movie I have watched lately after watching the entire season 1 of "the firm". There is a fight scene in a turkish bath that appears to be similar to the one in the amazing race australia where the sister had to rub the brother lol...
Taken.2.Alternate.Ending.720p.WEB-DL.XviD-SFD is a piece of crap so no need.
Watched a fun chinese movie
Tai.Chi.0.2012.720p.BluRay.x264-mSD
The main actress called Angelababy was kinda cute so I did a google...

Dredd.2012.BDRip.XviD-SPARKS was also quite good

Here are some pictures I took during lunchtime (full size uncompressed will show when you click on each photo)
Day 3 Used Kit lens Canon 24-105mm f/4L IS USM AF to shoot opera house, water. Will revisit location once I get the 70-200.... if that does not do the job will get 100-400
I was really tired and hot so there was some shake in hand lol
Day 3 - Mrs Macquaries Chair botanical gardens to shoot opera house sydney harbour bridge etc water views
Day 2 - fiddling with the 3 lens mentioned below (except the 70-200 as I only ordered it today) by changing only focal length to zoom in and out while seated in the shade in the same position throughout all photos:
Album of Sydney Botanical Gardens by the water facing the Naval Yard
Day 1 - Getting used to the camera (I got some really pretty flower shots):

because my 2 year old is gonna learn to swim and i wanna capture these priceless moments but a dslr is not gonna cut it while I have to prevent him from drowning while simultaneously taking pictures of him :)
the question is how long an i gonna wait since new improvements coming out in this area and I want great pictures as well as waterproofing and shockproofing

note not all the "tough" cameras by the various brands are the same eg the Sony tx20 looks good on paper but according to this review, it leaked and died ha ha

I am interested in the canon 1dx after I have invested in my lens and I was curious to see what the Nikon D4 could do so I did some googling and this next review shows that 1dx and d4 are similar in size but 1dx is better in many aspects, if only i could get one 2nd hand for cheap lol
http://www.digitalrev.com/article/canon-eos-1dx-vs-nikon/MzcyODcxMTc_A
Also, I did consider the Nikon D800 but 5d Mark iii appeared to be my cup of tea. 1dx is still double the price of 5d3 so with extra cash, u can buy flash, the lens I mentioned below and still have change to buy extra stuff (extra cameras lol).

After reading reviews upon reviews of lens, I decided to fork out $2k AUD to buy this one

The camera in a backpack with a few lens is really heavy but it is definitely worth the weight and bulk!
The pictures I took (think of me as a point and shoot person) were spectacular, I went to botanical gardens and took tonnes of pretty flowers with macro shots. I have to find a free photo sharing site to share with you.
Speaking of backpacks, I find the waist strap of the lowepro flipside400 AW annoying.
http://products.lowepro.com/catalog/Camera,14.htm
I am looking at a bag that can fit a 70-200mm lens attached to the 5d3 so when I get the lens, I will get one of these since I will only use the one lens during my lunchtime photo sessions. Need to learn how to use all the options of the camera before I invest in any more lens....
The flipside 400 AW I already have is a bit heavy and I always have to put the bag down on the ground to get the camera out which is very annoying.
Lowepro fastpack 350 appears to meet my needs (about $80 inclusive of shipping from china)

What I did when I opened the box (then packed all the lens and camera into my camera bag to go shooting):
Charged battery for a long time (till the blinking light on charger went green) and put it into the camera, then stuck the eyepiece plastic/rubber thing on the pentaprism, stuck the Lexar CF card in and tried on various lens and took photos. The grip feels fantastic.
After turning camera on, without reading the user guide, the first thing it asks you is to set date time location. There is a tiny button on the back next to the LCD kinda like a game console button (under the start/stop button as pictured here http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/canon-eos-5d-mark-iii/4) which you can make move up and down to set the numbers. Fortunately, to set the time, by having the button pressed up, it would auto increase/decrease automatically.

I bought the lowepro flipside AW400 backpack for about $200 for daily use. It barely fit all the stuff I bought but it is a really nice compact backpack. It is called flipside because it is the back section where you put your camera and other stuff in.
As mentioned below, I bought a Fancier backpack for AUD $126 which can fit 2to 4 DSLR cameras as well as a tonne of lens and that backpack itself weighs several kg (the weight of a new born baby lol). I intend to use that bag for storage of all equipment.
This is one of the lens I got for use with the 5d3

I also got the speedlite 430 EX II for about $230 AUD

Of course, I bought 2 spare batteries for AUD $30 free shipping from some HK website off ebay. I remember back in time, I physically went to some packed streets in HK just to look for generic brand spare batteries, now we have ebay so I can save time and $$$ and not get all sweaty and risk having my pocket picked ha ha

what CF card and SD card speed is best but note the websites saying that cf will be restricted by SD if you have both slots filled
http://www.robgalbraith.com/bins/camera_wb_multi_page.asp?cid=6007-12452
says the lexar 1000 32gb is one of the top 3 cards for use with 5d3 so I found the cheapest is amazon.com
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B007BXD66E/ref=nosim/7240425rg3297-20?s=merchant&m=ATVPDKIKX0DER
at 135usd They charged me 30 bucks for shipping but still the price is better than the 200+ for the same card elsewhere. I find that buying from ebay, the cheapest hk websites slap on extra charges and call them paypal charges and other bullSH!t labels so the price ends up not being cheap. Therefore, I highly recommend buying from amazon.com for these low priced generic things if you want overall lowest prices. Of course, not all HK websites are that dodgy but some take forever (eg over a month) to deliver which is annoying.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Cameraparadise has it for AUD 2492
http://cameraparadise.com/Canon-EOS-5D-Mark-III-Body-only-Digital-Camera-1193.html
but personally, I would go get the kit AUD 3,246 since the kit lens is apparently ok (and I did buy it lol)
http://cameraparadise.com/Canon-EOS-5D-Mark-III-Digital-Camera-Kit-24-105mm-L-Lens-1245.html
Getting the kit alone is not enough, you also need a CF card (a half decent SD card if you wanna save $$$), possibly a flash and a camera bag can bring the total cost upwards of AUD 4000.
I did consider 1dx but it is like 2x the price, bigger and benefits not apparent to a novice like me.

so once you have the camera, if u buy the body only, then I had to find out what lens is best for most situations...

I got 2xtra budget lens (under $100 each) to learn how to use the camera. When I get the camera, I will then see if I need to get more lens. eg
http://cameraparadise.com/Canon-EF-S-18-55mm-f-3.5-5.6-IS-II-Lenses-1161.html
I put an order for a camera bag. I initially was going to buy lowerpro since I have a fetish for lowerpro camera bags (just like a woman does for LV) but this time I think of future. I then considered the fancier kingkong series but the shop that sold them on ebay did not make it clear which model I would be getting so I went and ordered from a local website. The bag is bigger so the extra price is justified imo. I will probably buy a lot of lens and so I got a massive bag so I can store all of my camera and equipment in there. I might get a smaller bag for when I go out and about later, but the massive one I got can fit my 17 inch notebook. Cost me $AUD 129 including postage.

I finally found some time to start learning cs6, so i started by reading the for dummies and used a portable version of photoshop cs6 to learn the menus....
Here are my notes from today:
Tab key = full screen
Shift + Tab = hides right and bottom toolbars only

Alt+F9 = Actions toolbar
F5 = Brush
F6 = Color
F7 = Layers
Ctrl+k = preferences
To zoom - select hand tool then ctrl+ click, to zoom out ctrl+alt+click
Use more memory on 64bit computer in preferences - performances

before i watch any video tutorials, I prefer to print out the book (at work) 2 pages per sheet in full color and then do everything from cover to cover on my notebook at home. Benefits is that I can write down notes on the useful pages and always be able to refer back to it vs doing it on screen whereby I only have one screen so I have to alt+tab an infinite number of times which is annoying :)

Received my Sony RX100 after ordering last week from http://cameraparadise.com/en/index/index.php
Great service, fast delivery (3 days), best prices on the internet as it cost me AUD $588 inclusive of shipping. highly recommended. I also ordered 2 spare no name batteries for the RX100 and external charger and a case for it from some sites off the Australian Ebay. This time I just used a spare bank account that I had $25 left in it to pay and found paypal did not charge me extra. So I guess if you buy from Australian ebay and pay out of a bank account as opposed to using a credit card, you save on paypayl costs. Being a number one tighta$$, I chose the batteries, charger and case from free shipping sites :) Its amazing and comforting to how cheap those camera backpacks are so if one day I get a DSLR, I will get some. When it comes to Camera stuff, no one does it cheaper than those Hong Kong websites.
Ok in my picture from left to right (click the picture to make it full sized to see the detail) - Panasonic DMC - GF3 (Micro four thirds) with its default pancake lens, Sony RX 100 in the middle and Nikon Coolpix s3100. On top is a computer "gaming" mouse for size comparison. The Nikon Coolpix is definitely the most portable and I have seen nothing quite like it's size, it takes ok pictures, but if you want better pictures, size definitely comes into play :) Just in case you are wondering why I forked out on the RX100 instead of buying an entry level DSLR for roughly the same price, it is that I hate carrying stuff around, I hate carrying coins and give all my coins away, I hated carrying textbooks to school so sat next to my friend whereever possible, I hated wearing a watch (the only exception is if I need to use it to time myself eg sprints or resting between workout sets) so portability is always number 1 for me.
I will test out the RX100 soon. I took a few pictures and I can say they are definitely very good. the beauty of rx100 is you do not need to carry a bunch of lens around and out of the box, it takes great pictures. I got my sandisk 95mb/s 64gb card I ordered and will test out the speed too :)
Adobe camera raw needs to be updated to at least 7.1 to support sony rx100 raw images
http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/cameraraw7-3.html
while searching for a dual sim mobile, i found this site which sells the RX100 in Australia with free shipping for $559

Here are some Sony RX100 useful links (more links in my other post)

This following link has underwater shots taken with the rx100, i think you need to do something to make it waterproof so dont jump into the pool with it ha ha

BTW, don't confuse RX 100 with RX1 as the RX1 is $2,800 i.e. overpriced imo.

If I was forking out that money, I might as well spend a little more and get the Canon EOS 5d Mark III body for $2,500 from camera paradise
http://cameraparadise.com/Canon-EOS-5D-Mark-III-Body-only-Digital-Camera-1193.html
or the Nikon D800 which apparently takes better pictures than 5dmark III due to 36 megapixels
http://www.cameralabs.com/reviews/Canon_EOS_5D_Mark_III/verdict.shtml
then buy some quality lens , at least the technology would undoubtedly be much better.
http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/consumer/products/cameras/ef_lens_lineup
Note, the lens on the official sites are priced higher than you would find in the local store. If your local store is charging you the official website price, you are being ripped off! The reason why the website is charging more is because they need to in order for the retailers to make some money, otherwise, everyone would just go to the official site and no one would buy from local store...its all about their distribution channels.
Alternatively, there are a lot of sony cameras that would take better pictures for a lower price than the rx1.
EOS 5d Mark III or Nikon D800 seem to be the good cameras for pro. The D800 has built in flash and apparently has better image quality. Here are reviews

The most expensive camera I have seen when I was comparing prices for the rx100 would be
Nikon d3x $8000 but its iso only goes up to 6400 iso (if you use the comparison feature on the nikon website and compare against the D4, it looks like D4 is much better value for money, and the d3x only has 24megapixels + does not do movies?
Canon EOS-1DX which costs $6800
http://www.canon.com.au/For-You/EOS-Digital-SLR-Cameras/EOS-1DX
http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/consumer/products/cameras/slr_cameras
or Nikon D4 $5,999
http://www.nikonusa.com/en/Nikon-Products/Digital-SLR-Cameras/index.page
One thing for sure, the most expensive DSLR are massive beasts if you compare the Pro DSLR with Entry level Dslr
http://www.dpreview.com/learn/?/Guides/dslr_buying_guide_01.htm
Anyway, since someone always complains I take crap pictures I decided to refresh myself on photography (better than learning how to cook) since I am looking forward to using my Sony Cybershot RX100 to see what quality pictures I can get. Obviously, I am talking more than just point and shoot because anyone can do that :) I am going to focus more on learning how to take good pictures than learning photoshop techniques.
As a beginner to creating professional looking photos, these are some of the things I need to understand:
General Photography
- Aperture
- Shutter speed
- Exposure
- Composition
- HDR
- Using the flash
- Shooting at night
- Depth of field
- f-stop
- Noise
- ISO settings
- Color balance
- Saturation
- Bracketing
- How to choose a lens
- Photographing people eg wedding photoshoots, shooting children etc
- Photographing landscapes and nature
- Photographing objects eg food styling and lighting
- Photographing indoors
- Freeze motion photography
- Macro photography
Photoshop specific:
- Skin smoothing
- Working with raw images
- Color and tonal adjustments
- Gradient masks
- Vignette
Things I am currently not interested in are things like taking black and white photos,
I will try to read all the photography ebooks and online training from Lynda.com, video2brain or Kelbytraining to improve my skills after my exam on my tablet. There are more photography videos and ebooks available that the biggest harddrive can fill and you can spend years reading and re-reading /watching them :) So I guess I am going to be selective and not read every page.
I decided not to go past year 2000 for ebooks and for photoshop just collected cs6 tutorials since no point going back
I will try to post some images when I get the RX100 for you to critique :)
These are the Photoshop CS6 tutorial videos that are available on the internet which I have listed in terms of usefulness to beginners:

IMO all the cloud crap should not be trusted. Just got an email from ASUS webstorage
Thats right, the Asus f@#kers only give you 2 days notice. I am not paranoid as the reality is I probably have been around longer than you have and seen it all. If you look back at the free web page providers at around the time when Hotmail was invented years ago, most of the free webpage hosting providers dropped like dead flies. some were idiots because they provided too much webstorage so most of us would use it for filesharing since at that time p2p like napster and the free file hosting websites had not even existed so it was using the free webpage hostings to split up the 30mb file to multiple 5 mb files using ancient file splitters like hjsplit and they could not afford the bandwidth as bandwidth was really expensive back then. Anyway, the moral of the story is that the evil free filehosting providers get attacked by the corrupt governments and get taken down so you cannot rely on them for personal online storage. Then you have the greedy corporations which is the current topic under discussion, that offer cloud storage for free when you buy a notebook, smartphone etc, it is all gimmicks as they can take it away from you at any time so if you thought you could save $$$ from buying a larger hard drive, you better think twice.
Google spreadsheets for example can change the format of their proprietary spreadsheets which will render spreadsheets useless and incompatible with excel. Admittedly, they have introduced some really kewl and simple formulae which microsoft excel is behind the ball. So when you buy a smartphone, tablet or notebook, all those freebies and addons they use to try to sell, ignore it all :) Big corporations are using the cloud as the next big thing because they can get other companies to use it and then charge fees or threaten discontinuation of the service so the companies are stuck. Cloud computing in a business sense is just as useless as the American outsourcing concept. Every company I have worked for has not saved money in their outsourcing but actually increased their costs when comparing to when they had IT staff employed directly. American management is flawed as I have done an MBA and studied it in great detail. Their continued focus on cutting headcount is ridiculous. (to reduced fixed costs/overheads as variable costs improves certain performance ratios and hence company valuations and stockprices)
Then we have the Australian idiots in management who follow the American models. An example is our stupid retailers such as Myer and David Jones (ASX code MYR and DJS respectively) They followed the Asian model of renting out floor space to the suppliers to have revenue during a downturn, and got suppliers to put their own staff to sell perfumes and other crap and obviously service goes down the drain as these floor staff are only there to sell their own product and know nothing else eg where the toilet is on the floor above them. Now MYR has spent millions over the last year or so to improve customer service because everyone is now buying online instead of in-store and for bricks and mortar stores to differentiate themselves from online ie allure people to buy from their physical stores, they can only do so buy offering good service.
Initially, these clowns lobbied our government to lower the GST exemption threshold - still currently $1000 under which there is no GST levied (which the Australian Government is still looking at as the Australian Government is just as useless as the American Government) then they decided to join the online e-tailers and set up shop in Hong Kong and tries to compete with the likes of shoppingsquare.com.au but they entered too late so only idiots would buy from Myr's online website at their inflated prices. It is bad enough that to buy from overseas the Australian Government slaps of a bunch of import duties and crap on top of the GST'able value which includes the shipping cost on expensive items.
Ok enough of work bullS#$t... back to studying for final exam for me :) The moral of this is that you cannot trust the evil corporations that most of us work for. They are in it to make a profit at any cost and will chop off your legs without a blink of an eye.
Talking about m$ they really should focus on improving the excel formulae and functions rather than tinkering with aesthetics as I find each version is getting worse. 2007 excel is the only version you need as the shortcut hotkey commands in all subsequent versions are an abortion and no longer shortcuts as you have to use multiple keys to do what a simple combo in excel 2007 could do..

Here is my little movie review:
Looper.2012.DVDRIP.XVID.AC3-MAJESTiC stars bruce willis and is one of the better movies of 2012. It is mainly about time travel a la terminator 2 style, has a bit of superpowers and about going back to change the past. The ending is interesting and unexpected with a bit of a twist and the storyline is quite nicely thought out plot, yes simple enough for non sci-fi buffs to understand. Despite the name of the movie, it is quite entertaining. motherFu#ker is a word you will be thinking of when you finish watching. I used vlc player to play Looper.
Not.Suitable.for.Children.2012.DVDRip.Xvid.AC3.Legend-Rg is an Australian film with an interesting plot, a young guy who is a party animal suddenly finds he has testicle cancer and then has to have kids asap (within a week) and tries to find a woman to have an "arrangement" to have a baby as he cannot freeze his sperm, his female housemate has the hots for him and wants a baby so it gets complicated. Worth watching if you are my age and like Australian films.
The.Dark.Knight.Rises.2012.480p.BluRay.x264-mSD (859mb) is a great Batman movie. Its 2 hours and 44minutes long so great value for money. I have always had an affinity for Batman because I watched my first Batman about a decade and a half ago with my cousin when we were little in Canada at the movies. Anyway, thankfully there is no Joker (imo he makes the movies cheesy) and the plot is nice and simple and has a few twists in it to keep you guessing till the end. Catwoman is ok but nowhere near as good as Nicole Kidman used to be in one of the earlier Batman movies. Nicole Kidman is in a class of her own when it comes to actresses. The batmobile has been replaced by sports cars and some SUV hybrids and a bike with fat tyres and theres a weird looking flying device. The fight scenes were comical and in today's world where everyone watches mma or does martial arts, is totally out of touch with real fighting. When will the movie industry learn? It is a great movie to watch and as always has a decent soundtrack to go with it.
ps Superman VS Spiderman XXX DVDRip x264-STARLETS released the other day is obviously adult in nature but if you are into that sort of dressing up thing, might suit you :)
Champion.Road.Arena.2010.DVDRip.XviD-iGNiTiON has what is more realistic fighting scenes (but the movie sucked)
Savages.2012.UNRATED.DVDRip.XviD-AN0NYM0US is a great movie by Oliver Stone featuring Selma Hayek, john Travolta, blake lively etc about kidnapping, drugs and some beautiful scenery.
UFC 154 George St Pierre vs Carlos Condit - one of the best UFC fights I have seen :)
007.Skyfall.2012.720p.HDTS.NEW.XviD-RESiSTANCE is very good quality, in fact the best quality I have ever seen for a TS, I wonder what camera was used. The movie itself is what you would expect ie action packed with car chases... ps I chose to watch the 3gb version but I saw there was a smaller version available.
Lan.Kwai.Fong.2.2012.720p.Bluray.x264-mSD (English hardcoded subs) is one of the few Hong Kong Cantonese movies I have seen in 2012 as most productions are now joint China ones. Its a silly funny romantic movie. Quite enjoyable if you are into that sort of thing.

As I am still in the market for a new mobile and I want a dual sim phone....
this quad sim one looks interesting, if the brandname phone makers can adopt this technology...well at least dual sim as a default feature would be great but if you need more, this "Chinese looking" phone might be the phone 4 u

My search for my next mobile phone continued:
Now that I do not need a good camera, dual sim is what I am looking for as
my work is tighta$$ and can only be used for calls ie no data.
If you are not needing 3g and just want to make calls Nokia 110 which you can buy in-store at dick smith for $59 is nice and pretty and I am going to buy one on Monday as my own xmas present and see if they will match online price, lowest I found was $48 ha ha)
http://dicksmith.com.au/product/EM5116/nokia-110-unlocked-mobile $59
reviews say positive is that battery life is outstanding, very light and slim so fits better in pocket, price is so cheap and buttons are nice and soft for sms, has a basic camera
negative is no usb cable so need to use bluetooth to connect to PC or Nokiasuite but for me this phone will be used for calls + SMS only and to backup the contacts, Ill probably just stick the sim into my old n95 8gb (which is still selling for over $300 lol) to connect via usb. others kept complaining about not having torch/flashlight lol also some said nokia dual sim not so good as samsung and that nokia had network issues. at this price point i guess you can tolerate that. besides if you get 2, you can use tpg mobile or the same carrier and then its free to talk so you save $$$ that way while having the other sim card for other purposes so you can have the best coverage :)
http://www.gsmarena.com/nokia_110-reviews-4755p2.php
I did a comparison with the ancient nokia 3310 and the 110 is 2/3 the weight of a 3310 so it is quite light (the way I like it) obviously, the 3310 was built like a brick and you could drop it and it wouldnt break, but I would not expect the same from the 110 lol

The problem is the cheapest sites for the phones above have high shipping prices eg cheapest sites source from Hong Kong which charge almost 80 AUD for shipping so f@#k that s#$t. Getting a Nokia 110 instead ha ha
so it works out if you want a good deal, shoppingsquare.com.au is still the best bet for samsung galaxy sIII 16gb when including shipping total cost is about 500 aud (if it is an xmas present, u better order now ha ha). For a camera phone, it is pretty good.
http://www.shoppingsquare.com.au/product.php?id=402431
I actually bought 2 (not for me but as xmas gifts) why pay double for iphone 5 when you can get mostly the same functionality for a top selling phone, so I can make 2 people happy for the price of one :)
Everything about Galaxy sIII is better and it has more flexibility than iphone 5 in all areas eg you can stick memory cards into Galaxy, Galaxy has superior battery life compared with iphone 5
http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=4238&idPhone2=4910
The other thing is galaxy sIII has the update to get to jellybean

As to my own new mobile phone, I settled for A sony xperia x10 mini pro for total cost inclusive of shipping of 150 AUD. It has a nice slide out keyboard and weights exactly the same as my n95 ie 120grams.
I am terrible at sms texting so the keyboard will provide the benefit for the price. From my research all the dual sim phones sucked, so with this one, at least i have the keyboard benefit and its small form factor ie fits nicely in pocket. There is no way i would want to carry a samsung galaxy sIII in my work pants pocket. I can only imagine how uncomfortable it would be.

I did a comparison with the ancient nokia 3310 and the 110 is 2/3 the weight of a 3310 so it is quite light (the way I like it) obviously, the 3310 was built like a brick and you could drop it and it wouldnt break, but I would not expect the same from the 110 lol

but then I still always wanted a nokia n8 but prices still sky high

and n8 still ranks highly with latest smartphone cameras:

I also considered a lumia 800 (cheaper than 900)

The other thing is galaxy sIII has the update to get to jellybean
http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_s_iii_jelly_bean-review-823.php
This review basically says go for iphone 5 only if you have small hands ha ha

As to my own new mobile phone, I settled for A sony xperia x10 mini pro for total cost inclusive of shipping of 150 AUD. It has a nice slide out keyboard and weights exactly the same as my n95 ie 120grams.
I am terrible at sms texting so the keyboard will provide the benefit for the price. From my research all the dual sim phones sucked, so with this one, at least i have the keyboard benefit and its small form factor ie fits nicely in pocket. There is no way i would want to carry a samsung galaxy sIII in my work pants pocket. I can only imagine how uncomfortable it would be.
http://www.gsmarena.com/sony_ericsson_xperia_x10_mini_pro-review-491p2.php
I did consider
MOTOROLA DEFY MINI XT320
from here for $179 AUD
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-UNLOCKED-MOTOROLA-DEFY-MINI-XT320-WATER-RESISTANT-DUST-PROOF-3G-WIFI-GPS-/320916680622?pt=AU_Mobile_Phones&hash=item4ab81fefae&_uhb=1#ht_9444wt_1691
but they do not post ie you have to go to lakemba in NSW to pickup
It is smaller and lighter than the nokia n8 (which I am still trying to get a 2nd hand one as my ebay project ie I bid up to a certain point and give up if i don't get it as i am sure one day someone will have one for the price i pay)
http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=3252&idPhone2=4375

LG KS360 looked like the sony ericsson xperia x10 mini pro i got but it is older and looks like it is for kids, but on ebay only $99 inclusive of shipping.

If LG did not have such a bad reputation (based on my internet research) for its dual sim phones, I would have got that one, also i could not find a website with its weight and gsm arena did not have it so i had went by my instincts lol
for $125 AUD you can get a nice waterproof phone here

i might get one to go swimming with my son hee hee nothing worse than having to leave phone somewhere at the beach, if water doesnt kill it, the sand will so best thing to keep it in your pocket.
I have decided to choose the TPG $1 plan ($41 first month being $20 deposit and $20 for the SIM card and $1 for the month) since I do not have any friends and I use my work phone. I plan to transfer all my personal stuff to my TPG number over time.

07/12/2012 Ok I was thinking of buying myself a xmas present. Compared iphone 5 64gb vs ASUS padfone 2 via ebay and chose the padfone2 because both are biga$$ phones and I already got a small phone. The features on the padfone 2 tablet+ phone are better than iphone 5 imo and for the same price as an iphone 5 about $1000 AUD. Together they have much superior battery life and talk time etc than iphone 5 and when docked, lighter than ipad ha ha Can't wait to get it.

I finally won a bid for a nokia n8 (the one I won last week did not go thru cos the noob didnt even have a paypal account and couldnt receive money). HOpefully, I will get it before xmas. I got this one for $143 inclusive of shipping. Hopefully, it will be working and no scratches etc and is unlocked. I requested they unlock it 20 minutes before the auction was over and they promised to unlock. Even if they did not, it wouldn't really be a problem since TPG uses optus but in case I dont use TPG later on, better safe than sorry since I wouldnt be able to unlock it unless I had the seller's personal details.

Its amazing how technology has improved. I found my old sony dvd handycam from years ago where i invested heaps of money on spare batteries and re-writable blank dvds. For the price I paid then, today I can get an iphone 5 64gb which can do everything better than that old sony dvd handycam. The only good use I ever put to it was to film a wedding lol.
